Eindhoven Festival-Oktober Fest (2015): Netherlands, Germany, Luxemburg
Tuna Ciudad de Luz was formed in Eindhoven in the 60’s. Students Costa Brava met a Tuna during a trip at the Costa Brava, and when they came back “they ordered a couple of their freshmen to sing some Tuna-songs to prominent lady, as a way of hazing. Both the freshmen and their elders become so enthusiastic that in 1964 the Tuna Ciudad de Luz (Tuna of the city of light) was born”.
“In 1986 [vídeo] the group organizes its own certamens in Eindhoven which are well visited by Tuna-groups from all around the globe”.
In 1971 the group a got his own place, Tuna house (Aalsterweg 171). It was the place where we met in our travel, starting 17th september 2015. The made a BBQ with many tunos, it was a nice evening (and night).
The festival was full of tunos, a lot of Spain so we met many friends. ‘Botella de Ron’ (La Banda) was played dozens of times, even on the stage with all the participants. They made also a
crème caramel contest during the dinner.
One classic song in the Eindhoven is ‘Zeven Dagen Lang‘ (Bots), and here you have the phonetics in spanish and the chords.
Our next step was Nijmegen, where we sang in a couple of bars; in one of them it was the birthday of a woman, and we specially like to sing in birthdays ‘cos it means more drinks and money 😀 Later we went to a student dorm, where we had dinner and some songs.
We where singing on terraces of several bars, winning some money. Later we met Tuna Femenina de Medicina de Málaga, they were also with some freshwomen of our feminine Tuna.
It was a rainy day so we had problems in finding places to sing. Fortunately we met a Spanish girl who has a tuno brother, and told us to join their friends on the evening on a restaurant. On the night we end in a club where we met some Spanish guys, one of them told us: “What the hell is doing a Tuna in a discoteque on tuesday at Luxemburg”.
It was really disappointing to visit Nuremberg. We couldn’t sing and buy a beer in shops, even in a square where they were playing a country concert. We saw nice fireworks but we finished buying pizzas and beers in a supermarket and returning to our hostel. At least Matojo was happy cos he found boxes to pack instruments for the plane.
ROTHENBURG OB THE TAUBER
One tuno of Eindhoven recommended Nulo to visit this medieval town. It was nice and we won some money performing on the street.
German people told us that was impossible to get into the tents of the Oktober with instruments, but for Tuna nothing is impossible!!! So we got a table, sang a drink a lot (people invited us so much).
On Friday 25th september we were supossed to go to the Oktober, but Matojo bought tickets from MUNster instead of MUNchen XD He and Loctite had to drive more than 600 kilometres in order to get their plane. For Nulo wasn’t a problem to stay there singing with his friends of Madrid,Couch Surfers and germans 😛
